The Ashmolean is currently creating a new Money Gallery as part of a major £61 million redevelopment which includes the creation of 39 new galleries. There will aso be numismatic displays in 25 of the other galleries. The Museum is due to reopen to the public on 7th November 2009.
This talk will set the Money Gallery in the context of the redevelopment and explain the principal approach and themes within the gallery. Attention will be drawn to groups of displays aimed at particular audiences (families, local visitors) and to the use of graphics and interactives.
