The Chand A&Z fund for Indian Numismatic Studies

Thanks to the generosity of Mr Vikram Chand, the Royal Numismatic Society is able to make awards from this new fund to promote the study of coins of the Indian tradition in southern Asia, to include the coinages of India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia. The primary purpose of the fund is to aid in the progress of research by supporting, for instance, travel and subsistence costs in visiting collections, photographic expenses and the like, rather than supporting the production costs of publication, although the latter is not ruled out if appropriate.

Grants will be made at the discretion of Council from funds donated by Mr Chand. Those wishing to apply or enquire should write to:

The Chand A&Z Fund for Indian Numismatic Studies,

Applications should be made in writing to the Secretary of the RNS, stating the purpose of the proposed research, how much money is being sought, what it would be spent on, other sources of funding obtained or being applied for, and the intended outcome of the research (i.e. publication). The application should be supported by one reference, from a person of recognised academic position, who has personal knowledge of the applicant and their research.
